Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. Genesis 1:29
The seed is by far the most important symbol known to man. By it we understand birth, growth and death. From it the sustenance of creation continues. It is the provision of our food. The seed yields increase. And from seed flows the principle of sowing and reaping. Seed carries vital instructions for development. However a seed is simply the beginning, a promise of what can be. If a seed is not properly protected and nurtured it loses its potential. Without seed there can be no reaping. God's creation of a single granule has the ability to produce a whole crop. Understanding the seed places a significant role in a believer’s life because in everything God created, he completed in the beginning. The rest is a perpetual design encapsulated in the mechanism we call a seed. Can you see this elaborate pattern modeled in our everyday lives?
How does seed affect everything we do?
Thoughts are Seed
In Genesis, God is introduced as the creator of our universe. His impeccable plan to engineer the existence of man originated from one seed of thought. Before, man existed with God. Man-kind was birth out of the mind of God, even the Earth and our majestic universe. The very thought of man invoked the blue-print of man, Adam. Now, that thought birth, Adam, contained the seed of man. It is important as a believer to understand that God created us in His likeness giving us creative ability to "think" or perform the works of our thoughts. One definition of "think," means to consider something as a possible action or choice. In order to be effective as a Christian, we must consider our actions. This signifies to me that actions are merely the fruit of our thoughts.
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1: 26:27 NIV
Man's struggle in accepting God comes from our lack of comprehension that God was never created. He always existed. We mark our lives by time, there for; it is not possible to comprehend an infinite God in finite reality. Our ability to understand a God that existed before time challenges is not possible without God’s revelation. We see a seed-yielding-fruit display in everything part of our life cycle, which began at our creation. It's no wonder that man, in essence becomes a god, demonstrating the seed concept. We are creatively endowed with the ability to possess a thought, the seed, and in turn produce an action that frames our new reality. In this one demonstration of creation, God reveals the power of a thought.
Man is Seed
If we follow this ideology, we are led to understand that man-kind existed with God, and was birth in Adam. In the scripture sited above, Adam was made in the image of God, the text reads that in that image (Adam) He made male and female. From Adam, the seed, within him Eve, resided. At the appointed time, she was "birth" from Adam. I heard someone say, this is why man calls woman, "Babe." Since she is the only baby man birth. I propose this is why it’s understood when the term 'man' is used, it represents male and female. Now to this effect, God requires the two, to return to the former state (singular) in order to reproduce after (it) self.
"and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one." Mark 10:8
God carefully constructed man and made us in His image, God clearly had a well thought out plan didn't he. The heavens and the earth declare God is majestic, but man and all his many attributes declare the glory of God.
God gave the perfect form and function of man and woman. His plan for success was portrayed in Eden. Now since man has the ability to demonstrate his thoughts, we see the results of what happens when man rejects God's instruction and wisdom for his own.
Jesus is Seed
Sin the great divider of man from our creator. After the fall of man, God did not forsake us. Instead He made provision to reconcile us to Himself. This means He had to prepare a vessel to impart His spirit, Jesus, the Son of God. Jesus now becomes planted in a womb of a virgin, another seed-producing demonstration.
It is impossible to overcome the consequence of sin without Christ abiding in the tabernacle of our hearts. Christ is Jesus risen, the Son of Man, who being planted in our heart births the nature and mind of God. Because the spirit of the living God, the Holy Spirit, we possess the same through Christ.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
Now, after we have accepted Christ, planted in the hearts. We can seek the will of God by partaking with Christ, the mind of God. He allows us to partake of godliness and His righteousness, character and thoughts.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2 NIV
When we understand that as men - the corrupted seed of Adam and Eve by sin, we are destined to fail, born unto death. Through man's rendezvous with Satan, we received the inherited trait of sin. This condition is passed to our offspring. Jesus became the remedy to the consequence of sin and it is through Him, the incorruptible seed we are offered rebirth. Once we understand that God had a plan to unfold His mysteries, began with seed, we have insight how to combat the enemy.
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Galatians 6:7
Christians have the ability to exchange our genetic propensity of reproducing after the corruptible seed, flesh, for our blood inherited- spiritual (regene)ration to produce out of the mind of heart of God. We must be mindful that what man places as importance is foolishness. The Bible teaches us that the intelligence of man is vanity.
For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate." Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?" 1 Corinthians 1:19-20
Apart from God, man can do nothing. Nothing is a state of being to be nonexistent, dead.
It's no wonder why God does not exist to a generation that is so intelligent.
Perhaps they are void of understanding.
Remember that a tree began with a seed. The tree is the testimony of what was to come. Let our daily walk among our fellow brothers and sisters before the world testify of the one who is planted in the deep of our hearts. Christ had to go into the grave, down into Hades to conquer Satan and He prevailed against house of the wicked. All who believe has received the seed of God's promise of Christ's return.
Life is seed
What seeds have are being choked out by the weeds in your life? If we acknowledge our sin and our repent then we can be delivered.
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 2 Corinthians 7:10
All who have been redeemed have a choice.
Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for [it is] time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. Hosea 10:12
Say, Lord, I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways according to Psalms 119:15. So that I may be grounded and established to produce after the Spirit, and not of the flesh. Have your way today in my life today. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I cancel every seed that I have sown, nurtured or hidden that is contrary to the will of God. I curse every tree of deception and it's corruptible fruit according to Matthew 21:19. Produce in me, Your fruit, prune me so that I may flourish in the things You have so ordered, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
May the revelation of God’s delight; cultivate your seed to move deeper in relationship with Christ so to bring forth His glory.
